Nerospec OSCON’s range of specialist controllers provides a universal interface for Trackless Mining Machines (TMM) when integrated with a third-party Collision Warning/Detection/Management device (CxD). These controllers adhere to industry-standard Minerals Council South Africa (MOSH) intervention controls, supporting any machine OEM, make, model, type, or age. They are also the first 100% agnostic fleetwide machine interface controllers (CxDI), integrating seamlessly with the CxD and the Machine OEM Controller.
Our intelligent CxDI machine controllers offer advanced data logging capabilities, providing valuable insights into machine health, maintenance schedules, productivity analytics, and real-time monitoring. Speed Brake Interlock (SBI):
Our Speed Brake Interlock (SBI) is a cutting-edge safety mechanism that prevents over-speeding, featuring three (3) customisable settings for incline, decline, and level states for each machine make, model, and type. By ensuring speed control, it improves operational control and compliance with site-specific and general safety standards.
Speed Limiting Interlock (SLI):
The Speed Limiting Interlock (SLI) uses advanced BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacons to restrict a vehicle’s speed based on its proximity to beacons placed in specific areas. When the vehicle approaches a beacon, the system receives the signal and automatically reduces the vehicle’s speed to a preset limit, ensuring speed compliance in designated zones such as hazardous areas or work sites.

Brake Distance Monitoring (BDM):
BDM involves measuring and assessing the distance required for a trackless mining machine to come to a complete stop after the brakes are applied. This critical safety feature is essential in mining operations, where large and heavy machines operate in potentially hazardous environments. BDM systems provide control room operators and supervisors with real-time information about braking performance, helping to prevent accidents caused by inadequate braking distances. This technology is not a warning system for the machine operator and is remotely monitored within SIMAC®.
Brake Wear Monitoring (BWM):
BWM in trackless mining machines involves using the neroWEAR Kit (currently supporting Kessler Axles) to continuously assess the condition and level of wear on the braking components. The brake wear information is displayed on our Human Machine Interface (HMI) for operators, ensuring they are always informed about the condition of their braking system.
